West Brant Animal Hospital is a progressive 5-veterinarian, fast paced companion animal clinic based in Southwestern Ontario. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house X-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas. We believe in a high standard for medicine and we are fully equipped with a full in-house lab, digital and dental X-rays, ultrasound, as well as cold laser and surgical laser. Our hospital is also Feline Friendly!
We are conveniently located near main roads, the Brant Conservation Area, Grand River and the Brantford Municipal Airport. Although it has all the charming characteristics of a smaller town, Brantford is truly a world-class community that we are proud to call home. A handful of international companies such as SC Johnson Canada have offices and manufacturing plants based in our city.
Fun Fact: Brantford is also known as “Telephone City” as Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone here in his father’s home.

I worked as an independent contract veterinarian at West Brant Animal Hospital from Dec. 2022 to Dec. 2023, and billed approximately 1,000 hours. As a veterinarian with over 30 years of clinical experience, I have seen a wide variety of hospital environments throughout the years. West Brant would certainly rate as one of the more enjoyable and solid hospitals that I have been involved with.
First and foremost, the staff is absolutely top notch, from the employed and contract veterinarians to the technicians, the client service representatives and assistants. All have many years of experience within the industry and at this hospital specifically. As the facility has the room to be run as a multi-vet hospital, you have other experienced veterinarians on hand. The technical staff is absolutely fantastic and assist with whatever is needed on a day-to-day, case-by-case, or follow-up basis. The reception and management members do an excellent job of ensuring the hospital is run smoothly, so the veterinarians can focus on dealing with the medicine/surgery, without the distractions of operational tasks.
As for the clientele, I truly enjoyed meeting them and taking care of their pets. Clients are well versed with this hospital’s protocols, and the support staff does an excellent job of ensuring clients know what to expect.
Due to the staff’s vigilance in ensuring an appropriate work-friendly and lifestyle-friendly schedule, a regular break in the middle of the day was consistent and I had not once needed to stay past “closing time.” The workplace thrives in a positive environment, free from any form of negativity.
WBAH was the first VetStrategy practice I have been involved with, and I did not experience any type of influence over my medical approaches or recommendations. The compensation was in line with industry standards and expectations.
